Ultimate cocktail
Have you ever wondered what life is ? Or have you ever asked what does it mean to you ? I guess we all have asked ourselves this questions a zillion of times at some point or the other and have always had the ability to come out with different answers everytime. While for many of us life is an adventure, a book, a song, or a never ending journey. For many of us like Tom Hank quotes in Forest Gump, “Life is a box of chocolates.”
Like most of us I have also asked myself this question in those free moment of my life and the answer that I have got recently is : Life is an ultimate cocktail! Hmmm … I think I have many eye-brows raised out there on this thought , but if you sit back and think you would definitely agree with me on this viewpoint.
While for some of us life might be an aromatic cocktail like a Manhattan or a Martini that is usually a mix of some vermouth, a spirit and bitters, that is if you see some emotions, some high spirits for those emotions and a few hurdles here and there.
For many life may be have been slightly sour like the Margarita or the Sidecar.
Life is never the same for any one of us and its' taste changes constantly.
In fact life tastes better with experience and maturity , just as an old wine would do.
I strongly believe that are lifes are principally like Pousse-Cafes, layered with different emotions and phases that we come across as we grow. Just like those Pousse we often have our densest emotions or feeling rooted deep in our hearts while the lighter ones float above gently.
While spirits give us a temporary high and a happy feeling that lasts for a certain period , a person who knows how to blend and have the perfect cocktail of life , always remains high on life!
So just reach out for your spirits and start making your perfect cocktail, remember the recipe for a perfect cocktail is always with you ...... you just need to discover it.
And don’t forget to have a few tequila shots for those extra –kicks in life . So just pick your drink and get started on living life in those right ‘spirits’

Choices
Choices
Yesterday was a regular Monday morning. Started my day with a nice walk around the vicinity of my dwelling and then a quick shower and my royal breakfast , that is a few slices of bread, some cheese omelet, a glass of milkshake and I was off to work . As soon as I stepped out of the silence of my house into the hustle-bustle of the city, a thought crossed my mind. The thought of the choices each one of us have everyday and the decisions we make. Decisions that may change the course of life for a lot of us or may just give us a new aspect of the life one has been living.
Have you thought of this how many of us actually sit back and analyze each choice that we have to make everyday??? Probably a handful, whereas the rest of just take it for granted. Probably because the decisions are sometimes pre-determined and we intend on playing it safe rather than exploring the unexpected. Hmm let’s take an example and explore this aspect a bit more, shall we?? Consider that every morning I get up I have a choice of thinking to myself that , “ Oh! My Gosh, it’s gonna be another long tiring gruesome day” , and staring my day on that grumpy note, or jumping out of my bed with a smile and the thought of making this day a pleasant experience , spreading a smile and a will to reach out to the stars . Personally speaking I would prefer the second choice, but unfortunately we all know that we seldom think of the second option .
The choices that we make in our course of life not only determine our life , but also our very own outlook towards life and how we grow and develop as an individual.
Where some choices are really silly and can leave one muddled up with the options they throw at ones’ face . For example: The choices one has when you go to shop for simple things like say a pair of shirt or a loaf of bread, or picking up a body wash. I mean these choices are usually time consuming and not really much of a help . As in we know that brand x and y provide the same feature for a particular product, but we still ponder on for hours deciding our pick .
Well but certain choices that we make really have a great impact on our life . These are choices that life gives us as we travel along its path. The choice of say choosing a career path , choosing a life partner, or something equally substantial. It is these choices that we need to spend our time and ponder and think and rethink before we actually form an opinion and make that final decision , because not many choices come with a ‘back’ or ‘return to home page’ option.
After all we all don’t want to savor the fate of Lot’s wife when she turns to look back at the choice she made :
"And the just man trailed God's messenger
His huge, light shape devoured the black hill.
But uneasiness shadowed his wife and spoke to her:
"It's not too late, you can look back still
At the red towers of Sodom, the place that bore you,
The square in which you sang, the spinning-shed,hat upper storey
“Her eyes that were still turning when a bolt
Of pain shot through them, were instantly blind;
Her body turned into transparent salt,
And her swift legs were rooted to the ground.
Who mourns one woman in a holocaust?
Surely her death has no significance?
Yet in my heart she will never be lost
She who gave up her life to steal one glance. "

So be wise in making your choices . Don’t let them ever leave you muddled in life ! -Sakshi 27th of March 2008

Children
CHILDREN
Only children know the joy of making fish faces by pressing their noses against glass. The joy of life is only seen by children, which adults would never understand. These little bundles of joy, who live their life, dipped in colours, painted under the rainbow, with never a frown on their face, never a fear on their mind.
We all live life in different colours. Shades of blue, red, gray, green or white. We as adults who always search our entire life for that perfect shade we longed for dry up the colour we had by ourselves. We search for the rainbow standing under it, and later curse the sun for the rainbow we couldn't see.
Envy we do, these flowers of innocence who find happiness in their ignorance and we with all our intellectual superiority and wisdom which we claim, search endlessly for happiness our entire life.
(inspired from the LittlePrince, St. Antony)

Happiness
Happiness, joy,enjoyment--have these just become mere words in our life or do these expressions carry any meaning in todays' world. In a world where no one has time for their ownself, do we actually have time to care for an emotion so beautiful ann unique?
The word in itself has been quite a unique one for the past generations and maybe for a the generetions to come. Man has always been in the search for true happiness, what he forgets is probably that happiness is never complete in itself unless you know the importance of it and cherish whatever you get of it.
We often forget about the happiness bestowed on us in search of the ideal happy world that we all dream to live in one day.In order to cherish the happiness of life what we really need to do is to cherish and enjoy each and every sorrow that life lays in our paths. Its only when you get used to our sorrows that they no longer effect us and that's when happiness lasts with us forever.
"Life is as simple as a child's play,
and as complicated as a spiders web--the choice is yours to make"

Unfortunate life
Ramanath was a simple and one of the most eligible village lads. He had recently stepped into the 21st year of life. His fluency in the English language and his well-built physique made him famous among the village lasses.Ramanath was the son of the village weaver; his father had taken a loan from the village landlord for his education. He had expected his son to return after completing his education and pay of the landlords rent. Ramanath had come back to his village after 10 years, every one in the village from the old panchayat head to the careless little village boys had their own expectations from Ramanath .He had become every ones idol. The girls tried hard to woe his heart from time and again. He had gained a high position in every ones heart by getting gifts for all of them. None of them but actually knew what work did Ramanath do in the big city, not even his father! They all thought he worked as a babu in a big government office; at least that’s what he had told every soul in the village. But how much truth lay in that statement nobody really knew, for he surely lived a far more luxurious life than that of a government babu. His sudden arrival at his village on that cold winter night had made his father a bit suspicious. He tried asking Ramanath a couple of times but Ramanath always ignored it by saying it was some business stuff which his father would surely not understand it. (Few days later) It was raining outside. The lights of all the houses had faded out completely in the village. Ramanath was sitting in a corner in his room. The lamp kept on the side table was dying out slowly. His father Ramchaner slowly entered the room and sat beside his son. He stroked his son’s hair with his short and rough hands. It was the last straw that broke up Ramanath completely. After a few minutes of prolonged silence Ramanath told his father that he had fled away from the town and was now wanted by the police as he was involved in a major paper scandal in his office. Ramchaner had been an honest and a hard-working man all his life. He could not bear the thought of his only son letting him down by doing a crime as such. His son was a criminal. His hand turned cold. His body became hard and stone-like. Ramanath slowly touched his father with trembling fingers, and Ramchaner dropped dead on the cold, wet floor. The wind blew off the lamp on the side table. -Sakshi
